Bruno Guimaraes is a Brazilian central midfielder who plays for Arsenal FC and the Brazil national team. A technically secure, highly competitive and tactically versatile midfielder, he combines progressive passing and press resistance with aggressive ball-winning and an ability to influence matches at both ends of the pitch.
Guimarães joined Arsenal from Newcastle United in August 2026 after four and a half seasons at St James’ Park. He developed into one of the Premier League’s leading central midfielders during his time with Newcastle, eventually becoming club captain and leading the team to the 2025 EFL Cup, their first major domestic trophy in 70 years.
His career began in Brazil with Audax before he established himself at Athletico Paranaense. A move to Lyon in 2020 provided his first experience in European football, and his performances in Ligue 1 subsequently earned him a transfer to Newcastle in January 2022.
