About

Pedro Neto is a Portuguese winger who plays for Chelsea FC and the Portugal national team. A quick, direct and technically gifted attacker, he is known for his acceleration, progressive ball carrying and ability to create opportunities from either side of the pitch.

Neto joined Chelsea from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2024 after establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s most dangerous wide players. He has primarily operated from the right wing for Chelsea, although his ability to use both flanks gives the team greater tactical flexibility.

His senior career began in Portugal with Braga before a brief period at Lazio and a permanent move to Wolverhampton Wanderers. Despite several injury interruptions during his time at Wolves, Neto’s creativity and explosiveness earned him a major transfer to Stamford Bridge.

At international level, Neto represented Portugal across several youth categories before making his senior debut in 2020. He has since become a regular member of the national-team squad and has represented Portugal at major international tournaments.

Neto spent five seasons at Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he developed into an established Premier League winger. His performances attracted interest from several leading English clubs despite injury problems limiting his availability during parts of his Wolves career.

Chelsea secured Neto on a seven-year contract in 2024, underlining the club’s belief in his long-term value and ability to contribute across multiple attacking positions.

Playing profile

Neto is primarily a right winger but can also operate from the left, as an attacking midfielder or as a second forward. His versatility allows him to change sides during matches and attack different defensive weaknesses.

As a left-footed player starting from the right, Neto can move inside towards goal, combine with central attackers or deliver crosses with his stronger foot. From the left, he is more likely to attack the outside of a defender and create through low deliveries or cutbacks.

His defining physical quality is his acceleration. Neto can create separation within the first few metres and is particularly dangerous when receiving possession with space ahead of him.

He is an effective progressive carrier who can move the ball over long distances during transitions. His close control at speed allows him to advance attacks without needing immediate support from teammates.

Neto also possesses strong creative qualities. He can deliver crosses from wide positions, play passes behind the defensive line and create opportunities after moving into central areas.

Without the ball, he contributes through pressing and recovery runs. His work rate allows him to support his full-back and react quickly when possession is lost.

Recurring injuries have interrupted parts of his career, but when fully fit, Neto offers a valuable combination of speed, creativity, versatility and Premier League experience.
