Ousmane Dembélé is a French forward who plays for Paris Saint-Germain and the France national team. Naturally two-footed and capable of operating across the entire attacking line, he is known for his acceleration, dribbling, creativity and ability to destabilise defensive structures.
Dembélé joined PSG from Barcelona in 2023 and experienced the best period of his career in Paris. Under Luis Enrique, he evolved from a predominantly wide winger into a central attacking reference, frequently operating as a false nine or mobile centre-forward.
His outstanding 2024/25 campaign transformed his individual status. Dembélé helped PSG win their first UEFA Champions League title and completed the season as one of Europe’s most productive attacking players. He subsequently won the 2025 Ballon d’Or.

Dembélé’s transfer to Barcelona in 2017 made him one of the most expensive players in football history at the time. He was recruited following Neymar’s departure but endured several injury-disrupted seasons during his time in Spain.
His move to PSG in 2023 proved transformative. Luis Enrique gradually shifted him into more central positions, allowing Dembélé to become much more influential around goal and significantly increase his scoring output.
Playing profile
Dembélé is one of football’s most naturally two-footed elite attackers. He can dribble, pass, cross and shoot effectively with either foot, making it particularly difficult for defenders to force him towards a weaker side.
Traditionally a winger, Dembélé can operate on either flank but has increasingly played centrally for PSG. As a false nine or mobile centre-forward, he can drop between the lines, pull centre-backs away from their positions and create space for wide attackers.
His acceleration and ability to change direction remain major strengths. Dembélé can beat opponents from a standing start, carry the ball through transitions and create numerical advantages through individual actions.
He is also an elite creator. His ability to play cutbacks, through balls and low crosses means he can produce chances from both central and wide positions.
Under Luis Enrique, his off-ball contribution improved considerably. Dembélé became more aggressive in pressing defenders and goalkeepers and more disciplined in PSG’s counter-pressing structure.
His development as a finisher has been particularly significant. Where he was previously viewed primarily as a creator, he now consistently arrives in central scoring positions and has become much more efficient inside the penalty area.
