Lamine Yamal is a Spanish right winger who plays for FC Barcelona and the Spain national team. A product of Barcelona’s La Masia academy, he has developed into one of the most valuable and influential young players in world football.
Yamal primarily operates from the right side of the attack, where his close control, creativity and ability to move inside onto his stronger left foot make him difficult to defend. Despite entering senior football at an exceptionally young age, he quickly became a central figure in Barcelona’s attacking structure.
At international level, Yamal made his senior Spain debut in 2023 and immediately became the country’s youngest-ever player and goalscorer. He played a decisive role in Spain’s UEFA Euro 2024 victory and was named Young Player of the Tournament.
His rapid development has been managed alongside Portuguese football agent Jorge Mendes and Gestifute. Mendes has represented Yamal during his rise from academy prospect to global star and was involved in negotiating his long-term Barcelona contract until 2031.

Yamal has spent the majority of his football development at Barcelona and has not completed a senior transfer between professional clubs.
His long-term contract reflects his importance to Barcelona’s sporting project. The club moved to secure his future after he established himself as one of the most important young players in European football.
Yamal is primarily a right winger but can also play as an attacking midfielder, second striker or from the left side. He is most effective when starting wide on the right before moving inside onto his stronger left foot.
His close control allows him to receive the ball in tight areas and escape pressure with subtle changes of direction. He does not rely exclusively on speed and regularly beats opponents through timing, body movement and technical precision.
Yamal is particularly dangerous in one-on-one situations. He can attack the outside of a defender, cut inside towards goal or create space for an overlapping full-back. His ability to slow down before suddenly accelerating makes his movements difficult to anticipate.
His creative qualities are already highly developed. Yamal can deliver crosses, reverse passes, through balls and cutbacks from a variety of positions. He regularly attracts multiple defenders, creating space for teammates elsewhere in the attacking third.
He is also a growing goalscoring threat. His preferred action is to move inside from the right before shooting with his left foot, but he can also score through combinations, transitions and late movements into the penalty area.
Despite his young age, Yamal plays with unusual composure and confidence. His decision-making, technical quality and ability to influence major matches give him the profile of a potential generational talent.
