About
Victor Froholdt is a Danish central midfielder who plays for FC Porto and the Denmark national team. A dynamic box-to-box midfielder, he combines high-intensity running with progressive ball carrying, technical security and an increasing ability to contribute goals from midfield.
Froholdt developed through FC Copenhagen after joining the club from Vallensbæk IF. He progressed into the senior team as a teenager and became an important first-team player during the 2024/25 season, helping Copenhagen win both the Danish Superliga and Danish Cup.
FC Porto signed him in July 2025 for €20m plus potential bonuses. His development accelerated immediately in Portugal, where he became a regular starter and one of the most valuable young midfielders in the Primeira Liga.
At international level, Froholdt made his senior Denmark debut in March 2025. He quickly became part of the regular national-team midfield group and scored his first international goal against Belarus during 2026 World Cup qualifying.

Transfer history
2019 – Vallensbæk IF to FC Copenhagen academy – Youth transfer
2023 – FC Copenhagen academy to first team – Promoted into senior football
2025 – FC Copenhagen to FC Porto – Permanent transfer – €20m fixed fee plus up to €2m in bonuses – Contract until June 2030
Froholdt progressed rapidly after entering Copenhagen’s senior team and developed into one of the most valuable young players in Scandinavian football.
Porto moved decisively in July 2025, paying €20m guaranteed with another €2m available through performance-related bonuses. Copenhagen also retained a 10% share of the profit from a future sale.
The transfer became the most expensive outgoing deal in FC Copenhagen’s history at the time.
Porto protected the investment with a contract until 2030 and an €85m release clause. His strong first season in Portugal subsequently pushed his market value significantly higher.
Playing profile
Froholdt is primarily a central midfielder but can also operate as an advanced number eight, right-sided midfielder or attacking midfielder.
One of his defining qualities is his ability to cover ground. Froholdt plays with high intensity and consistently moves between defensive and attacking zones, giving him a natural box-to-box profile.
He is particularly effective carrying possession forward. His 1.87m frame, long stride and technical control allow him to drive through midfield and break the opposition’s first line of pressure.
Froholdt is also secure in possession. He receives comfortably under pressure and generally looks to progress the ball vertically rather than simply circulate it sideways.
His attacking contribution has increased substantially since moving to Porto. He makes well-timed forward runs and has developed into a genuine goalscoring threat from midfield.
Without the ball, his work rate allows him to press aggressively, recover into defensive positions and compete effectively in midfield duels.
His combination of athleticism, technical quality and tactical intelligence gives him the profile of a modern two-way midfielder capable of contributing throughout all phases of the game.
