Rayan Vitor Simplício Rocha, commonly known simply as Rayan, is a Brazilian forward who plays for AFC Bournemouth and the Brazil national team. A powerful left-footed attacker, he can operate from the right wing, as a centre-forward or from the left side of the attack.
Rayan developed entirely through Vasco da Gama’s academy after joining the Rio de Janeiro club at the age of six. He progressed rapidly into senior football and became one of the outstanding young attackers in the Brazilian Série A during the 2025 season.
Bournemouth signed him in January 2026 in a deal worth approximately €35m including bonuses. His combination of physical power, direct running and goalscoring potential made him one of the Premier League club’s most significant investments in a young player.
His international development has been similarly rapid. After representing Brazil at U17 and U20 level, Rayan progressed into the senior national team in 2026 and was selected for Brazil’s FIFA World Cup squad.

Rayan spent practically his entire football development at Vasco da Gama before moving to Europe.
His breakthrough during 2025 dramatically increased his profile. His goalscoring output, physical development and ability to play across the attacking line attracted interest from clubs across Europe.
Bournemouth ultimately agreed a package worth around €35m to secure him in January 2026. The guaranteed portion was approximately €28.5m, with the remainder dependent on performance-related bonuses.
The transfer represented one of the most significant sales in Vasco’s recent history and made Rayan one of Bournemouth’s most expensive signings.
Rayan is a left-footed attacker who can play as a right winger, centre-forward or left winger. His physical profile is unusual for a wide attacker, combining a 1.87m frame with acceleration and strong technical ability.
Starting from the right allows him to move inside onto his stronger left foot. From these positions he can shoot from distance, attack the penalty area or combine with central teammates.
Rayan is also comfortable operating as a centre-forward. His strength allows him to compete directly with centre-backs, protect possession and attack crosses.
One of his biggest strengths is his ability to attack space at speed. He carries the ball powerfully and can move quickly from wide areas into central scoring positions.
His finishing improved considerably during his final season at Vasco. Rather than functioning only as a creative winger, he developed into a consistent goalscoring threat capable of finishing inside and outside the penalty area.
His combination of size, speed and left-footed quality gives him a relatively rare attacking profile and allows coaches to use him in several different roles across the front line.
