Nico Paz is an Argentine attacking midfielder who plays for Como 1907 and the Argentina national team. Born in Tenerife, Spain, he developed through Real Madrid’s academy before establishing himself as one of the most exciting young creative players in Serie A.
Paz primarily operates as a number ten but can also play as an advanced central midfielder, right-sided playmaker or deeper number eight. His technical quality, physical development and ability to create goals have made him the central figure in Como’s ambitious sporting project.
After making his Real Madrid first-team breakthrough during the 2023/24 season, Paz moved to Como in search of regular senior football. Under Cesc Fàbregas, he quickly developed from a promising academy graduate into one of Serie A’s leading young attacking midfielders.
At international level, Paz represented Argentina at youth level before making his senior debut in 2024. He subsequently became part of the senior national-team setup and represented Argentina at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Paz’s original move to Como included a series of clauses that allowed Real Madrid to retain substantial influence over his future. These reportedly included buy-back rights, a sell-on percentage and matching rights over future offers.
After two successful seasons in Italy, Paz requested to remain at Como for the 2026/27 campaign. A new agreement was reached between the player and both clubs, while Real Madrid retained the option to bring him back for the following season.
Paz is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also operate as an advanced number eight, right winger or second striker. He is most influential when receiving possession between the opposition’s midfield and defensive lines.
His close control and awareness allow him to turn under pressure and advance towards goal. Paz regularly scans before receiving possession, enabling him to identify space, evade an opponent and accelerate the attack with his first few touches.
He is an effective progressive carrier who combines technical skill with a strong physical frame. Paz can protect the ball against contact, move through midfield challenges and carry possession into the final third.
His left foot is central to his creative profile. He can play disguised passes, through balls and switches of play, while also posing a threat through curling shots and direct free kicks from outside the penalty area.
Paz is particularly effective when moving from the right half-space into central areas. From these positions, he can combine with a striker, release an overlapping full-back or create his own shooting opportunity.
Under Cesc Fàbregas, he has developed greater tactical responsibility and consistency. He contributes to Como’s possession structure, presses from advanced areas and has improved his movement into goalscoring positions.
