Morgan Rogers is an English attacking midfielder and forward who plays for Chelsea FC and the England national team. A powerful and technically gifted attacker, he is known for his progressive ball carrying, physical strength and ability to create or score from several attacking positions.
Rogers joined Chelsea from Aston Villa in July 2026 following two highly productive seasons in Birmingham. His performances for Villa established him as one of the Premier League’s leading young attackers and earned him a British-record transfer to Stamford Bridge.
He previously developed within West Bromwich Albion and Manchester City’s academies before gaining senior experience during loan spells with Lincoln City, Bournemouth and Blackpool. A permanent move to Middlesbrough gave him a more stable first-team platform before his breakthrough at Aston Villa.
At international level, Rogers progressed through England’s youth teams and made his senior debut in 2024. He subsequently became a regular member of the national-team squad and represented England at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Rogers’ transfer to Chelsea made him the most expensive British footballer at the time of the move. It also represented a substantial return for Aston Villa, who had signed him from Middlesbrough only two and a half years earlier.
Rogers is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also operate as a left winger, second striker or central forward. His versatility allows him to move between wide and central positions throughout a match.
One of his defining qualities is his ability to carry the ball forward under pressure. Rogers combines close control with a powerful running style, enabling him to resist challenges and progress possession through midfield or into the final third.
He is particularly effective when receiving between the lines and turning towards goal. His physical strength allows him to protect the ball, while his acceleration helps him move beyond defenders once he has created space.
Rogers can also attack from the left side before driving inside onto his stronger right foot. He is capable of creating chances through through balls, cutbacks and combinations around the penalty area.
His development at Aston Villa significantly improved his movement, decision-making and goalscoring output. He became more effective at arriving in central scoring positions and contributing without the ball through pressing and direct runs.
At Chelsea, Rogers can be used alongside or behind another creative player, as a left-sided attacker or as a powerful number ten capable of carrying the ball through defensive lines.
