Michael Olise is a French right winger and attacking midfielder who plays for Bayern Munich and the France national team. Born in London, he is a technically elite left-footed attacker known for his creativity, one-on-one ability, passing vision and increasingly prolific goalscoring output.
Olise developed through the academies of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Reading before making his professional breakthrough with Reading. Crystal Palace signed him in 2021, and three productive Premier League seasons established him as one of Europe’s most sought-after young attacking players.
Bayern Munich signed Olise in July 2024. His transition to Germany was immediate, and he developed into one of the central figures in Bayern’s attack. By 2025/26, he was producing more than 50 direct goal contributions across all competitions and had established himself among the most valuable players in world football.
At international level, Olise initially represented France at youth level and won an Olympic silver medal at Paris 2024. He made his senior France debut later that year and became a major player for Les Bleus at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, recording seven assists during the tournament.

Crystal Palace’s decision to sign Olise from Reading proved to be one of the club’s most successful pieces of recruitment. He developed from an outstanding Championship prospect into a high-level Premier League creator.
Bayern then activated the release mechanism in his Palace contract in 2024 and secured him for approximately €53m.
His subsequent development in Munich has dramatically increased his value. By 2026, he had become one of Bayern’s most important players and one of the most valuable footballers in the world.
Olise is primarily a right winger but can also operate as a number ten, attacking midfielder or occasionally from the left.
As a left-footed player starting from the right, he naturally moves into the right half-space, where he can shoot, combine with midfielders or create chances for central attackers.
Creativity remains one of his defining qualities. Olise has exceptional passing weight and vision and is capable of creating through balls, crosses, cutbacks and disguised passes from several different attacking zones.
He is also an elite one-on-one player. His close control, balance and changes of pace allow him to beat defenders without relying exclusively on raw speed.
Since joining Bayern, Olise has become significantly more dangerous in front of goal. He attacks central areas more frequently and has developed into a player capable of producing elite-level numbers in both goals and assists.
His set-piece delivery provides another major threat. Olise can create directly from corners and free kicks while also possessing the technique to score from direct set-piece situations.
The combination of creativity, dribbling, goalscoring and positional intelligence makes him one of the most complete wide attacking players in European football.
