Konstantinos Karetsas is a Greek attacking midfielder who plays for Borussia Dortmund and the Greece national team. Born in Genk, Belgium, he is a left-footed creator known for his close control, dribbling, vision and ability to find solutions in tight spaces.
Karetsas developed through the academies of Genk and Anderlecht before returning to Genk in 2023. His progression was extremely fast: he entered professional football at only 15 and became the youngest goalscorer in Belgian professional football.
After establishing himself as one of the most exciting young players in the Belgian Pro League, Karetsas moved to Borussia Dortmund in August 2026. He signed a five-year contract and immediately became part of the club’s senior attacking rotation.
Although he represented Belgium through several youth levels, including U21, Karetsas chose to represent Greece at senior level. He made his debut in March 2025 and became the youngest goalscorer in Greece national-team history only three days later.

Karetsas returned to Genk after two and a half years with Anderlecht and quickly demonstrated that he was capable of playing significantly above his age group.
His breakthrough in the Belgian first division attracted interest from several leading European clubs, but Dortmund emerged as his preferred destination.
The transfer represented a record sale for Genk and continued Dortmund’s established strategy of recruiting elite young attacking talent with significant development potential.
Karetsas is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also operate from the right wing. As a left-footed player, he is particularly comfortable receiving in the right half-space before moving centrally.
His biggest strength is his technical quality in tight areas. Karetsas can receive under pressure, manipulate the ball with very small touches and escape defenders through rapid changes of direction.
He is also a highly creative passer. His vision allows him to identify runners behind defensive lines, while his ability to disguise passes makes him particularly dangerous around the edge of the penalty area.
From the right, Karetsas can move onto his stronger left foot to create or shoot. He is equally capable of remaining wide and using his dribbling ability to beat defenders one-on-one.
His low centre of gravity and balance make him difficult to dispossess despite his relatively small physical frame.
Karetsas also plays with unusual confidence for his age. He actively looks for possession in advanced areas and is willing to attempt decisive actions rather than simply retaining the ball.
