He joined Chelsea from Brighton & Hove Albion in July 2025 after establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s most adaptable young forwards. His impact was immediate, with decisive performances during Chelsea’s victorious FIFA Club World Cup campaign.
Joao Pedro began his senior career with Fluminense in Brazil before moving to Watford as a teenager. He developed significantly in English football and later joined Brighton, where his combination of creativity, movement and goalscoring attracted interest from several leading clubs.
At international level, João Pedro made his senior Brazil debut in 2023. He has since remained part of the wider national-team setup while competing for places in a highly competitive attacking group.

Joao Pedro’s move from Brazil to Watford at a young age provided him with an early pathway into English football. After developing in both the Championship and Premier League, his move to Brighton allowed him to take on greater attacking responsibility.
Chelsea signed him in the summer of 2025 after two seasons on the south coast. His immediate contribution at the Club World Cup significantly raised his profile and strengthened his position within the Chelsea squad.
Joao Pedro is primarily a centre-forward but can also operate as a second striker, number ten or winger. His technical quality and mobility make him particularly effective in fluid attacking systems.
He is comfortable dropping away from the defensive line to receive possession between midfield and defence. From these positions, he can turn, combine with teammates or carry the ball towards goal.
Unlike a traditional penalty-box striker, Joao Pedro regularly participates in the build-up. His close control and awareness allow him to connect midfielders with wide attackers and create space for runners moving beyond him.
He is also an effective dribbler. Joao Pedro can receive under pressure, change direction quickly and attack defenders directly when space becomes available.
His finishing has developed throughout his career in England. He is increasingly comfortable attacking central positions, finishing first-time opportunities and taking responsibility from the penalty spot.
At Chelsea, his versatility allows him to play as the highest striker or alongside another forward while also rotating into deeper attacking areas.
