About

Gilberto Mora is a Mexican attacking midfielder who plays for Club Tijuana and the Mexico national team. One of the youngest established senior internationals in world football, he is known for his creativity between the lines, close control, composure under pressure and ability to influence games from central attacking areas.

Mora developed through Tijuana’s academy and made his Liga MX debut in 2024 while still only 15. His transition into senior football was exceptionally fast, and he quickly developed from an academy prospect into a regular first-team player.

His international rise has been equally impressive. Mora made his senior Mexico debut in June 2025 at 16, helped the national team win the CONCACAF Gold Cup and was subsequently selected for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

He featured prominently during the tournament and became the sixth-youngest player in World Cup history, further establishing himself as one of Mexico’s most important long-term prospects.

Mora is represented by Rafaela Pimenta, one of the most influential football agents operating internationally.

Pimenta’s client portfolio includes established elite players alongside a smaller group of carefully selected young talents. Mora fits the latter category and is viewed as a player whose eventual move to Europe requires particularly careful career planning.

His representation has emphasised patience around his next step, with the focus remaining on development, playing time and selecting the right European environment rather than forcing an early transfer.

Mora has spent his entire development pathway with Club Tijuana and has not yet completed a professional transfer.

His new contract, signed in June 2026, significantly strengthened Tijuana’s position as interest from leading European clubs continued to grow.

The agreement gives Mora and his representatives greater control over the timing of his eventual move to Europe, allowing him to prioritise development rather than contractual pressure.

Playing profile

Mora is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also operate as a central midfielder, left winger or second striker.

His defining quality is his understanding of space. Mora regularly positions himself between opposition midfield and defence, where he can receive on the half-turn and immediately attack the next line.

He is technically very secure in tight areas. His close control and balance allow him to receive with defenders nearby and retain possession under pressure.

Mora is also an intelligent progressive passer. He looks for vertical passes and through balls rather than simply circulating possession, making him particularly dangerous around the final third.

Despite his age, he already plays with considerable personality. Mora actively demands the ball and is comfortable assuming creative responsibility in senior matches.

His goalscoring output has also started to improve. During the 2026/27 season, he has increasingly arrived inside the penalty area and taken greater responsibility from set pieces and penalties.

The combination of technical quality, vision, maturity and extensive senior experience at only 17 gives Mora one of the strongest development profiles in Mexican football.
