Gianluca Prestianni is an Argentine winger who plays for SL Benfica and the Argentina national team. Primarily deployed from the right, he is a quick, technically gifted attacker known for his close control, direct dribbling and willingness to take defenders on.
Prestianni emerged through Vélez Sarsfield’s academy and became one of the youngest players to establish himself in the Argentine club’s senior team. His performances quickly attracted European attention, with Benfica reaching an agreement to sign him before his 18th birthday.
He officially joined Benfica in January 2024 and initially divided his time between the first team and Benfica B. His role gradually increased, with the 2025/26 campaign becoming his first season of sustained senior involvement in Lisbon.
Prestianni made his senior Argentina debut in November 2025. In October 2026, he scored his first international goal and added an assist in a 7–0 win over Burkina Faso, further strengthening his position within Argentina’s emerging generation.

Benfica moved early to secure Prestianni after his breakthrough in Argentina, reaching an agreement while the winger was still only 17.
Because international regulations prevented the transfer from being completed while he was a minor, Prestianni remained with Vélez until turning 18 in January 2024.
Benfica acquired the majority of his economic rights, with the total package capable of rising further through performance-related bonuses. His contract also includes a reported €100m release clause.
Prestianni is primarily a right winger but can also play from the left or as an attacking midfielder behind the striker.
Although right-footed, he is comfortable operating from either side and regularly moves into central areas rather than remaining attached to the touchline.
His biggest strength is his ability in one-on-one situations. Prestianni combines a low centre of gravity with rapid touches and changes of direction, allowing him to attack defenders aggressively.
He is particularly effective when receiving possession between the opposition midfield and defensive lines. His first touch allows him to turn quickly and immediately attack space.
Prestianni has also improved his final-third production. His early Benfica performances were often built primarily around ball progression and dribbling, but he has increasingly added goals and assists as his role has expanded.
His creativity, acceleration and willingness to take risks make him particularly dangerous against compact defensive structures where individual actions are required to create space.
