About

Ferran Torres is a Spanish forward who plays for FC Barcelona and the Spain national team. A versatile attacker capable of playing through the centre or from either wing, he is known for his intelligent movement, ability to attack space and instinctive finishing inside the penalty area.

Torres developed through Valencia’s academy before establishing himself in La Liga and earning a move to Manchester City in 2020. After winning domestic honours in England, he returned to Spain with Barcelona in January 2022.

At Barcelona, Torres has evolved from primarily a wide attacker into a player increasingly comfortable operating as a centre-forward. His movement and ability to arrive in goalscoring positions have allowed him to contribute regularly despite strong competition for attacking places.

At international level, Torres has been an important member of Spain’s senior team since making his debut in 2020. He represented Spain at UEFA Euro 2020, the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Euro 2024 and the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where Spain won the tournament.

Torres left Valencia for Manchester City after emerging as one of Spanish football’s most highly rated young wingers. His ability to play across the attacking line made him an attractive option for Pep Guardiola.

Barcelona brought him back to La Liga in January 2022 as part of the club’s attacking rebuild. His role has gradually evolved, with Torres increasingly used through the centre as well as from wide positions.

Playing profile

Torres is a versatile forward capable of operating as a centre-forward, left winger or right winger. Although he developed primarily as a wide attacker, his movement and finishing increasingly suit a central role.

One of his strongest qualities is his off-ball movement. Torres consistently looks to attack the spaces between full-backs and centre-backs and makes well-timed runs behind defensive lines.

Inside the penalty area, he is effective at finding space rather than relying on physical dominance. He frequently arrives into scoring positions at the correct moment and can finish quickly with limited touches.

From wider positions, Torres can attack directly, combine with teammates or move inside to create space for an overlapping full-back.

He is also comfortable playing in possession-oriented systems. His understanding of positional rotations allows him to exchange positions with midfielders and other forwards while maintaining attacking structure.

Torres’ versatility is particularly valuable because he can fulfil different attacking roles without requiring a major tactical adjustment.
