About

Benjamin Šeško is a Slovenian centre-forward who plays for Manchester United and the Slovenia national team. At 1.95m, he combines elite size with unusual acceleration, athleticism and technical ability, giving him one of the most distinctive striker profiles in European football.

Šeško developed in Slovenia before joining Red Bull Salzburg’s system as a teenager. After gaining senior experience with FC Liefering, he broke into Salzburg’s first team and established himself as one of Europe’s leading young forwards.

RB Leipzig signed him in 2023, where two productive Bundesliga seasons significantly increased his reputation and market value. Manchester United subsequently signed him in August 2025 in a deal worth €76.5m plus up to €8.5m in bonuses.

At international level, Šeško has been a senior Slovenia international since 2021 and quickly developed into the focal point of the national-team attack. He represented Slovenia at UEFA Euro 2024 and remains one of the country’s most important players.

Šeško is represented by Pro Transfer and its founder Elvis Bašanović, who has worked with the striker since well before his senior breakthrough.

The relationship is notable for its long-term development approach. Bašanović and Pro Transfer were involved in Šeško’s pathway from Slovenian youth football to Salzburg, then Leipzig and eventually Manchester United.

The agency deliberately resisted accelerating Šeško’s move to one of Europe’s biggest clubs too early, instead prioritising playing time and development in Austria and Germany.

Bašanović was directly involved in the negotiations that took Šeško to Manchester United in 2025, one of the largest transfers ever involving a Slovenian player.

Šeško’s career has been built through carefully selected development steps rather than an immediate jump from Slovenia to one of Europe’s biggest clubs.

The Salzburg and Liefering pathway gave him consistent senior football before his breakthrough at Austrian Bundesliga level, while Leipzig provided two full seasons in one of Europe’s strongest leagues.

Manchester United had followed Šeško for several years before eventually completing the transfer in 2025. The final package can reach approximately €85m depending on performance-related bonuses.

Playing profile

Šeško is a centre-forward whose combination of size, speed and technical ability makes him unusually difficult to defend.

At 1.95m, he provides a natural target for direct passes and crosses, but his game is much more dynamic than that of a traditional target striker.

His acceleration is one of his standout characteristics. Šeško can attack space behind defensive lines and reach high speeds despite his large frame, making him particularly dangerous during transitions.

He is also technically comfortable for a striker of his height. He can receive into feet, combine with attacking midfielders and carry the ball into shooting positions.

Šeško possesses powerful shooting technique with his right foot and is capable of scoring from outside the penalty area as well as through traditional number-nine movement inside the box.

His aerial ability remains another important weapon. His height, leap and movement make him a consistent threat from crosses and set pieces.

The next stage of his development centres on consistency, movement against deep defensive blocks and converting his physical and technical tools into elite-level goalscoring numbers.
