Achraf Hakimi is a Moroccan right-back who plays for Paris Saint-Germain and captains the Morocco national team. Born in Madrid, he developed through Real Madrid’s academy before establishing himself as one of the leading attacking full-backs in world football.
Hakimi has been a central figure at PSG since joining from Inter Milan in 2021. His exceptional speed, forward movement and ability to contribute goals and assists allow him to operate as both a traditional right-back and an advanced wing-back.
His career rise included a successful two-year loan at Borussia Dortmund, a Serie A-winning season with Inter Milan and multiple domestic trophies with PSG. In 2025, he scored the opening goal in PSG’s first UEFA Champions League final victory.
At international level, Hakimi chose to represent Morocco despite being born in Spain. He made his senior debut in 2016 and played an influential role as Morocco became the first African and Arab nation to reach a FIFA World Cup semi-final in 2022.

Hakimi spent only one season at Inter Milan but played a major role in the club’s Serie A title victory. His performances in Italy led PSG to make him one of the most expensive full-backs in football history.
His contract extension until 2029 reflects his importance to PSG’s sporting project and his status as one of the club’s senior leaders.
Hakimi is primarily a right-back but can also operate as a wing-back or right-sided midfielder. His attacking qualities make him particularly effective in systems that allow him to advance high up the pitch.
His greatest physical strength is his acceleration. Hakimi can cover large distances quickly, attack space behind the opposition and recover defensively after joining an attack. His speed makes him especially dangerous during transitions.
He is highly effective when making overlapping and underlapping runs. Hakimi can stay wide to stretch the defensive line or move into central areas to combine with midfielders and forwards.
His finishing is unusually strong for a defender. He regularly arrives in goalscoring positions, can strike the ball with either foot and is capable of scoring from direct free kicks.
At PSG, Hakimi has developed greater tactical responsibility and composure in possession. He can contribute to the build-up, move into midfield and create overloads while maintaining the intensity required to defend the right side.
For Morocco, he plays with additional leadership responsibility and is trusted to provide width, creativity and progression from deeper positions.
