The Elegant Game client Enzo Fernandez has emerged as one of Manchester City’s desired transfer targets for the summer, with Florian Plettenberg reporting that initial talks behind the scenes have already taken place.
The Chelsea midfielder is strongly wanted by Enzo Maresca, who worked with him at Stamford Bridge and is understood to have a top, very trusting relationship with the Argentina international.

Chelsea’s official season review listed him with 54 appearances, 49 starts, 4,835 minutes, 15 goals and seven assists. He played more games than any Chelsea player and finished as the club’s second-highest scorer in all competitions.
Chelsea also highlighted his wider creative impact. Across the 2024/25 and 2025/26 campaigns, Fernandez produced 24 goals and 24 assists, giving him 48 goal contributions over two seasons. Only a small group of Premier League players had more combined goals and assists in that period.
Those are elite midfielder numbers. Fernandez is not only a passer or ball-winner. He has become a direct output player.
