Footwork Management client Morgan Rogers is set to join Chelsea after the club reached a verbal agreement with Aston Villa for a £117m transfer.
The deal is now being finalised, with Rogers expected to sign a six-year contract plus a one-year option. A medical is scheduled for Monday, 20 July 2026, after Chelsea moved quickly to beat Arsenal to one of the most expensive English-player deals in history.
Arsenal were interested, but Rogers wanted Chelsea. Xabi Alonso is understood to have been instrumental in the move, convincing the 23-year-old that Stamford Bridge is the right platform for the next stage of his career.
Chelsea make a record-level statement
Chelsea are not treating Rogers as a squad addition. A £117m fee places him in the club-record bracket and turns the transfer into one of the biggest attacking investments of the summer.
