ProStar Football Agency client Mykhailo Mudryk is clear to return to football after his anti-doping case was settled.
The Chelsea winger is expected to join the squad in Hong Kong for the club’s pre-season tour and will be available immediately. That ends a long and difficult period for the 25-year-old, who had not played competitively for Chelsea since November 2024.
The case centred on an adverse finding connected to meldonium. Mudryk consistently maintained that he had never knowingly used a banned substance, while Chelsea publicly supported the player and the testing process from the beginning.
Case settled after appeal process
Mudryk had appealed against a four-year FA ban to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. The case has now been resolved with agreement between the relevant parties, and the time already served has been accepted as his period of ineligibility.
The latest reporting says updated WADA scientific guidance around low-level meldonium findings played an important role in the resolution. In simple football terms, Mudryk is no longer blocked from training, travelling or playing.
That is the most important practical outcome for Chelsea. Xabi Alonso can now reintegrate him into the squad during pre-season rather than waiting for a future legal process to finish.
Chelsea get an immediate wide option back
Mudryk’s return gives Chelsea another natural left-sided winger at a time when the squad is still being reshaped.
Before the suspension, Mudryk had made 73 appearances for Chelsea after joining from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023. His Chelsea record stands at 10 goals, with flashes of elite pace, direct running and one-v-one quality, but also long periods where consistency was still developing.
His last competitive appearance came in Chelsea’s Conference League win over Heidenheim in November 2024. That means the first stage of his return will be physical rhythm rather than immediate tactical certainty.
Chelsea will need to manage him carefully. He has missed a huge amount of match football, and the pre-season tour in Hong Kong now becomes the first controlled step back into the group.
