Nilson Angulo to Sunderland – Wasserman client set to replace Adingra as Monaco loan opens door

Sunderland agree deal for Nilson Angulo

Sunderland have reached an agreement with Anderlecht to sign Nilson Angulo, with the move described as a surprise and the player’s medical already underway.

The 22-year-old Ecuador international is set to arrive as Sunderland reshape their wide options, moving quickly to secure a direct winger profile for the second half of the season.

The timing is tied to a clear outgoing. Simon Adingra is completing a move to AS Monaco on loan. That exit created an immediate need for Sunderland to backfill pace and 1v1 threat in wide areas – and Angulo is the profile they’ve chosen.

Who is Nilson Angulo?

Angulo is a right-footed left winger who has developed in Belgium with RSC Anderlecht, while also breaking into the Ecuador national team setup. He is known for direct dribbling, acceleration and quick transition play, and he has already gained experience across senior football and international level at a young age.

Agency angle: Wasserman and Richard Motzkin

Angulo is represented by Wasserman, one of the most powerful multi-sport agencies in global football with the highest market value, heavily active in Premier League recruitment and cross-border deals.

On the executive side, Richard Motzkin is EVP, Managing Executive Global Football, a key figure in the agency’s senior strategy and elite-market relationships.

Adingra’s agency: Fidus Sports

Adingra is represented by Fidus Sports, an agency with a strong European footprint that frequently works on Premier League and Ligue 1 pathways – relevant here as the Monaco loan becomes the trigger for Sunderland’s replacement move.

With medical steps ongoing, Sunderland’s focus is now on final paperwork and registration to complete Angulo’s arrival. If everything is signed off, the Ecuadorian becomes the immediate successor to Adingra’s role – and a fresh attacking outlet for Sunderland’s run-in.
