Argentina 2026 World Cup squad: Football agencies behind Scaloni’s players

published on 29 May 2026

Argentina’s 2026 World Cup squad is now official. The AFA confirmed Lionel Scaloni’s 26-player list, with Lionel Messi, Emiliano Martínez, Cristian Romero, Enzo Fernández, Julián Álvarez and Lautaro Martínez all part of the group that will try to defend the title won in Qatar.

This is still very much Scaloni’s Argentina. 17 of the 26 players were part of the 2022 World Cup-winning squad. But there is also a new layer, with players such as Nico Paz, Valentín Barco, Facundo Medina, Giuliano Simeone and José Manuel López giving the squad a different shape from four years ago.

Behind the football story is the agency story. Argentina’s squad is not dominated by one representation group. KMB Sports and DC Global SL have the strongest presence, while GestifuteUniversal Twenty TwoThe Elegant GameScore Fútbol and several Argentine or South American specialists also appear.

KMB Sports and DC Global lead the squad

KMB Sports is one of the most visible agencies in Argentina’s final 26. Gerónimo Rulli, Nicolás Tagliafico and Exequiel Palacios are all listed with the agency, giving KMB a presence across goalkeeping, defence and midfield.

That spread matters. Rulli is one of Scaloni’s trusted goalkeepers, Tagliafico remains part of the defensive core from Qatar, and Palacios gives Argentina midfield control and tournament experience. KMB is not attached to only one kind of player in this group. Its presence runs through different parts of the squad.

DC Global SL also has three players: Leandro Paredes, Giovani Lo Celso and Nico Paz. Paredes and Lo Celso are long-standing Scaloni-era figures, while Paz represents the next generation. That gives DC Global an interesting mix: two experienced midfielders and one of the most exciting younger attacking midfielders in the Argentine pool.

Messi, relatives and the personal side of representation

Lionel Messi is listed with relatives, and that remains one of the most important representation stories in world football. At the very top of the game, family-led representation can still be the preferred model.

Messi is not the only Argentina player in that category. Alexis Mac Allister is also listed with relatives, showing that the squad contains both formal agencies and more private family structures.

This matters because Argentina’s recent success has always been about trust and relationships. Scaloni built a team culture around stability, emotional intelligence and loyalty. The agency map reflects some of that same texture: big firms, boutique agencies, individual representatives and family-led careers all sitting inside the same dressing room.

Gestifute and the next wave

Gestifute is represented by Nicolás Otamendi and Valentín Barco. That gives Jorge Mendes’ agency a connection to two very different Argentina profiles.

Otamendi is one of the veterans of the squad and a central figure in the Scaloni era. Barco is closer to the future-facing side of the team: young, versatile and still developing at European level. For Gestifute, Argentina’s squad brings together experience and potential.

Barco’s inclusion is also part of a wider theme. Argentina have kept the core of 2022, but Scaloni has added players who can extend the team’s life beyond Messi, Otamendi, Paredes and the older generation.

The Argentine agency core

Argentina’s squad includes several agencies with strong Argentine or South American roots.

Universal Twenty Two is linked with Emiliano Martínez, one of the defining players of Argentina’s modern era. Martínez is not only the first-choice goalkeeper; he is one of the emotional pillars of the team.

Interplayers appears through Gonzalo Montiel, another player forever tied to Qatar after scoring the decisive penalty in the 2022 final. Score Fútbol is connected with Lisandro Martínez, while The Elegant Game is linked with Enzo Fernández.

That last one is especially interesting. The Elegant Game is associated with Javier Pastore, another Argentine international, and Enzo gives the agency a major place in this squad. He was the breakout midfielder of Qatar 2022 and now arrives as one of Argentina’s central figures rather than a surprise discovery.

Attackers and specialist representatives

Argentina’s attack has a wide agency spread. Julián Álvarez is listed with Fernando Hidalgo, Lautaro Martínez with Footfeel ISM, Thiago Almada with Agustín Jiménez, Nicolás González with GEA World, Giuliano Simeone with AC Talent, and José Manuel López with Proyecta Players.

That is a very varied attacking map. Álvarez and Lautaro are established elite forwards. Almada and Simeone bring energy and mobility. Nico Paz adds creativity between midfield and attack. López is a newer tournament option from Palmeiras.

For Scaloni, the football question is how to balance Messi’s role with runners, pressers and finishers around him. For the agency market, the attack shows just how fragmented elite Argentine representation can be.

The Real Madrid point and omitted players

There is no Real Madrid player in Argentina’s final 26. Franco Mastantuono was the obvious Real Madrid-linked name in the wider conversation, but he was left out of the final squad.

However, this is not a “first time in Argentina history” situation. That claim belongs to Spain’s 2026 squad story, not Argentina’s. Argentina’s 2022 World Cup-winning squad also had no Real Madrid player, as shown in FIFA’s official 2022 squad records.

The big omitted name is Mastantuono, who is linked with Area Sport Team. Other notable players left out from the wider preliminary list include Alejandro Garnacho, represented by LeaderS / LEAD3RS, Gianluca Prestianni, linked with DOBLE G Sports Group, Marcos Acuña, listed with Eleven Talent Group, Marcos Senesi, connected with ROOF, Alan Varela, linked with Sports360, and Emiliano Buendía, listed with Universal Twenty Two.

Infobae reported that 29 players were cut from the preliminary list, including Mastantuono, Garnacho, Prestianni, Buendía, Senesi, Acuña and Varela. That group remains relevant because FIFA replacement rules mean only players from the preliminary list can be called in if Argentina need to make a late change.

Conclusion

Argentina’s 2026 World Cup squad is a continuation of the Scaloni era, but it is not frozen in 2022. Messi, Martínez, Otamendi, Romero, De Paul, Mac Allister, Enzo, Lautaro and Álvarez keep the world-champion spine intact, while Paz, Barco, Medina, Simeone and López add new movement around it.

The agency picture is just as layered. KMB Sports and DC Global SL lead the count, but Argentina’s squad also includes GestifuteUniversal Twenty TwoThe Elegant GameScore FútbolFootfeel ISMAC Talent and several individual representatives.

That variety fits Argentina. Scaloni’s team has never been only about names on paper. It is about roles, trust, timing and chemistry. The agencies behind the players are part of the wider story, but the central theme remains the same: Argentina are trying to defend the World Cup with a squad built from loyalty, renewal and one last Messi-led push.
