Niagara Announces the Journey to Samsun
Niagara Sports Company and Andy Bara are involved in Nenad Bjelica’s return to Turkish football, with Samsunspor announcing an agreement in principle with the Croatian coach until the end of the season.
Niagara followed the news with an Instagram post showing Bara and Bjelica aboard a private aircraft. The agency captioned the photograph:
“Here we go! 🇹🇷
Andy Bara and @misterbjelica road to Samsun with the rest of the team ✈️”
The post provides a direct agency connection to the appointment, with Bara accompanying the coach and his team as they travel to Samsun.
Samsunspor Turn to Bjelica After Difficult Start
Samsunspor announced the agreement on 14 October, following the departure of Thorsten Fink after a 3–0 defeat to Trabzonspor.
The club’s opening league results explain the urgency. Samsunspor collected four points from seven matches, recording one win, one draw and five defeats, leaving them 17th in the Süper Lig at the time of the coaching change.
Bjelica’s immediate task will be to stabilise results and restore confidence. An agreement running until the end of the season gives the appointment a clear short-term focus, with league performance taking priority.
The club initially described the arrangement as an agreement in principle and said further developments would be communicated separately.
A Return to Familiar Turkish Territory
Bjelica already has experience of the Süper Lig from his spell with Trabzonspor between April and October 2023.
The 55-year-old managed 16 league matches, winning eight and losing eight, for an average of 1.50 points per game. His return therefore brings prior knowledge of Turkish football, its competitive demands and the pressure surrounding managerial appointments.
His wider coaching career includes Austria Wien, Spezia, Lech Poznań, Dinamo Zagreb, Osijek and Union Berlin. That background gives Samsunspor a coach accustomed to working across different leagues and football cultures.
The Agency Angle: Bara’s Coaching Business
Niagara is widely associated with player representation, but Bjelica’s Samsunspor move highlights its involvement in the managerial market.
The Madrid-based agency is led by Andy Bara and Juanma López, with a network spanning Spain, Croatia and other European markets. Its player roster includes Dani Olmo, Joan García, Lovro Majer and Pavel Šulc, while its published profile also lists coaching clients.
Bara is a Croatian agent and Niagara co-founder whose work has connected Balkan talent with clubs across Europe. López, a former Atlético Madrid defender, brings a complementary background in Spanish football and representation.
Niagara’s post places Bara directly alongside Bjelica during this move. Although the financial terms and precise representation arrangements have not been disclosed, the agency has publicly identified itself with the coach’s next chapter.
A New Assignment Beyond the Transfer Window
Bjelica’s move illustrates how agency activity continues after the player transfer window closes. Coaching changes create their own negotiations around contract length, staff appointments and the sporting expectations attached to a job.
For Samsunspor, the priority is an improvement on four points from seven league fixtures. For Bjelica, it is an opportunity to establish a stronger second chapter in Turkish football, with Niagara and Bara visibly involved in the journey.
