Sparta strike record domestic deal for Matyas Vojta
AC Sparta Praha have reached an agreement with FK Mlada Boleslav to sign striker Matyas Vojta, in what is being reported as the most expensive transfer between two Czech clubs. Sparťanské Zprávy report the fee at €4m plus around €750k in bonuses, with the move widely framed as a record-breaking domestic deal.
The reported package sets a new benchmark inside the Czech league market and shows how far internal transfer fees have risen in recent seasons. High-profile domestic moves have already pushed the ceiling up, but this deal is now being discussed as the biggest Czech-club-to-Czech-club fee yet.
Who is Matyas Vojta?
Vojta is a 21-year-old Czech centre-forward (born 26.02.2004) who has been one of Mlada Boleslav’s standout attacking performers. He is typically profiled as a modern No. 9 with physical presence, penalty-box instincts and strong finishing, and his jump to Sparta signals that the club sees him as both an immediate attacking option and a long-term asset. Vojta also represents the Czech U21 national team.
The agency angle – ESAM and Jiří Müller behind the move
Vojta is represented by ESAM – European Sport Agency Müller, led by Czech agent Jiri Müller, one of the most visible figures in Czech football representation. ESAM’s roster spans top Czech-league players and coaches, including the best Czech coach Jindrich Trpisovsky, who recently signed a new contract. The agency has been involved in major domestic negotiations where timing, relationships and long-term planning are decisive.
Müller a recognized figure in Czech football’s business landscape, with long-standing connections to big names – including Pavel Nedved – and a well-documented personal and professional relationship with the late super-agent Mino Raiola.
ESAM’s message – “Bigger pressure. Bigger expectations.”
After the agreement, ESAM posted a message on Instagram capturing what the move means for the player’s next chapter. The agency wrote: “Matyas Vojta is moving to AC Sparta Prague for a record fee. A new chapter. More pressure. Higher expectations. But still the same hunger. Congratulations!”
It’s a clean summary of what this transfer represents: not just a fee, but a major step into a heavier spotlight at a club where goals and trophies are the standard.
Rosicky on Vojta: confident, productive, and strong in pressing
Sparta sporting director Tomas Rosicky highlighted why the club believe Vojta can develop into a complete striker, saying: „Matyas, despite his young age, is a confident and productive forward with a good sense of positioning in the penalty area. He is effective in pressing and can react very quickly when possession is lost. We believe that, thanks to his profile and attributes, he has the potential to develop into a complete central striker.”
“Czech talent is undervalued” – Müller on the transfer-fee gap
Müller has also repeatedly argued that Czech talent is still undervalued on the international market, with players moving abroad for noticeably lower fees than peers from comparable “export” countries – even though the quality is there.
In one recent discussion, he pointed to the gap bluntly: “How is it possible that players from Croatia or Serbia move for €20m–€25m?” – insisting that Czech clubs should stop selling from a position of insecurity and start pricing their best assets like a true Central European league with proven European-level performance, not one shaped by outdated “Eastern Europe” stereotypes.
