Igor Thiago extends Brentford contract to 2031
Brentford striker Igor Thiago has signed a new long-term contract running until June 2031, with a club option for a further year – and the agreement includes an improved salary package.
Brentford see the renewal as a major commitment to one of their key attacking pieces.
Thiago was then named Premier League Player of the Month (for January), adding a major individual honour to a week already dominated by contract news and reinforcing how quickly his status has risen in England.
Why a new contract doesn’t always mean a player stays
A long extension like this is a statement, but it is also a business tool.
A new deal can raise a player’s value by pushing back the contract end date. Also, protect the club’s leverage in negotiations and increase the “starting price” if elite clubs come calling
So while Brentford clearly want Thiago as a long-term pillar, the contract also makes any future summer conversation much more expensive for buyers.
Agency behind the move: Assis Representações Profissionais
Thiago is represented by Assis Representações Profissionais LTDA.
The agency is led by Hugo Assis do Nascimento (Brazil), a former professional player who later moved into player representation and is listed as a licensed FIFA agent.
