Chelsea tie down Mathis Eboue on first professional deal
Chelsea have confirmed academy attacker Mathis Eboue has signed his first professional contract with the club following his 17th birthday.
Eboue joined Chelsea from Watford in January 2025, and the club highlighted the speed of his rise, noting he even made a Watford U21 debut while still in the Under-16 age group.
Who is Eboue and why Chelsea moved early
Chelsea list Eboue as an attacking midfielder and an England U17 international, a profile that clubs typically secure early as the next development phase approaches.
He has also drawn attention for his football background: Eboue is widely reported as the son of former Arsenal and Ivory Coast defender Emmanuel Eboue.
Agency angle: Two Touch Agency and Paolo Vernazza
Eboue is represented by Two Touch Agency, the player-representation firm launched in 2019 by Paolo Vernazza alongside former Arsenal and Charlton defender Jonathan Fortune.
Two Touch’s roster includes established Premier League names such as Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa) and Matty Cash (Aston Villa), showcasing the agency’s footprint at top-flight level.
A first pro deal is a milestone, but it’s also a starting point: Chelsea’s next steps will be about accelerating Eboué’s pathway through U18 and U21 football, while building the physical consistency and decision-making that turns academy production into senior-level impact.
