Castello Lukeba open to summer move – €80m clause, Bayern interest and BS Group agency angle around Leipzig defender

Lukeba open to next step as summer interest builds

Castello Lukeba is open to taking the next step in the summer, with several top clubs closely monitoring the RB Leipzig centre-back ahead of the next window, according to Florian Plettenberg.

The 23-year-old is one of the most attractive young left-footed defenders on the market, and that alone makes him a premium profile. His reported release clause is €80m, although the wider expectation is that Leipzig could be willing to sell for around €70m if the right deal arrives.

Why Lukeba is attracting elite attention

Lukeba fits one of the hardest profiles to find in modern football: a young, top-level, left-footed centre-back with pace, athleticism and the ability to defend big spaces. Clubs at the elite end of the market are constantly searching for that combination, which is why his name keeps appearing in high-level recruitment conversations.

He is still only 23, under contract until 2029, and already has strong experience in Ligue 1, the Bundesliga and European competition. That contract length gives Leipzig leverage, but it also means they are dealing with a player whose market value is unlikely to fall if he keeps progressing.

The Bayern angle – Max Eberl still an admirer

One of the interesting subplots is Bayern Munich. Max Eberl is still said to be a big admirer of Lukeba and has continued monitoring him for Bayern.

At the moment, though, a move there appears unrealistic. The reasons are practical as much as sporting: Bayern already have centre-back decisions to make, the asking price is extremely high, and the wider squad picture does not currently make a deal easy to execute.

So while the admiration is real, admiration alone is not enough when the numbers are this big. Also, there are other top teams, like Arsenal, linked to the player.

Agency angle – BS Group International

Lukeba is represented by BS Group International, a Paris-based agency built around a legal-led model through its wider advisory structure.

The firm has developed a reputation for combining player representation with strong legal and contract expertise, which becomes especially important in complex high-value deals. Their roster includes a mix of elite and emerging talents, and Lukeba is clearly one of their standout assets.

For a player in this market bracket, that kind of representation matters. A summer move at €70m-plus level is not just about interest – it is about structure, timing, negotiations and making sure the next club is the right strategic step.

The key question is no longer whether clubs like Lukeba. They do. The real question is which club is willing to move from admiration to action at the price Leipzig want.

If no one reaches that level, Leipzig keep a high-end defender contracted to 2029. If someone does, Lukeba has the profile to become one of the biggest centre-back deals of the summer.
