Dortmund complete Kauã Prates agreement with Cruzeiro
Borussia Dortmund have completed a deal to sign Brazilian left-back Kaua Prates from Cruzeiro. The agreement is €7m fixed plus €5m in add-ons, with the medical done and paperwork completed, and the plan is for Prates to join from June 2026.
Who is Kaua Prates?
Prates is a left-footed left-back born 12.08.2008, developed in Cruzeiro’s academy and already involved at Brazil U17 level.
He’s viewed as one of Brazil’s standout defensive prospects – a modern full-back profile with the athletic base to defend wide spaces and the composure to progress the ball, which fits Dortmund’s talent-first recruitment identity.
Kauã Prates has already tasted international success at youth level – the Cruzeiro left-back was part of Brazil’s title-winning U17 side at the 2025 South American U-17 Championship in Colombia, featuring in five matches as the Seleção lifted the trophy after beating the hosts Colombia in the final on penalties.
