001 United Sports at centre of Yohanna race
001 United Sports are now managing one of the most interesting teenage winger files in Europe, with Zadok Yohanna attracting Brighton, Chelsea and Newcastle interest.
Florian Plettenberg reports that Brighton have reached a full verbal agreement with the 18-year-old AIK winger. Yohanna is understood to be one of Brighton’s priority targets, but the deal is not finished yet because negotiations with AIK are still ongoing.
Chelsea have now also entered the race, while Newcastle’s proposal is currently understood to be the highest. RB Leipzig were previously involved, but they are now out because the deal is considered too expensive.
Brighton have the player side, not the full deal
Brighton’s work should not be underestimated. A verbal agreement with Yohanna gives them a strong position, especially because their player-development model is one of the most respected in Europe.
But AIK still hold the registration, and that is where the deal must be completed. Yohanna is under contract with the Swedish club until 31 December 2029, which gives AIK real leverage in negotiations.
That is why the file remains open. Brighton have the player’s commitment, but Chelsea and Newcastle entering the race gives AIK more options and increases pressure around the final package.
Why Chelsea and Newcastle are moving
Chelsea’s interest fits their wider strategy. The club continue to target high-upside young players before their market value fully explodes. Yohanna has the age, physical profile and attacking style that suits that recruitment model.
Newcastle’s proposal being the highest is also important. They may not have the same youth-recruitment reputation as Brighton, but they can offer Premier League football, long-term project status and serious financial terms for AIK.
For Yohanna and 001 United Sports, the decision is not only about which club offers the biggest package. It is about pathway. At 18, the wrong move could slow his development. The right move could turn him into one of the next major African talents to break through via Scandinavia.
Yohanna’s rise at AIK
Yohanna is an 18-year-old Nigerian right winger, left-footed, 1.84m tall and already tied to AIK on a long contract. He joined the Swedish club after coming through Ikon Allah Football Academy in Nigeria, a route that has quickly become one of the most talked-about talent pathways in Swedish football.
His 2026 breakthrough has been impressive. Swedish Football News reported that he scored four goals in five Svenska Cupen appearances before producing one goal and one assist on the opening matchday of the 2026 Allsvenskan season.
He had already made six Allsvenskan appearances in 2025, but this year has been the real acceleration. His pace, size, left foot and confidence in one-v-one situations have made him one of the most exciting young attackers in the league.
Agency angle: 001 United Sports’ biggest breakout file
001 United Sports is led by licensed agents Andrei Balmos and Roni Layous, who are listed as the agency’s owners and now have one of their most visible emerging-player files in Zadok Yohanna.
The agency represents a growing roster of young and emerging players, with Yohanna currently one of the most visible names because of the Premier League interest around him. Managing this file well is crucial. A move to Brighton, Chelsea or Newcastle would not only shape the player’s career, but also raise the agency’s visibility across Europe.
This is where representation matters. 001 United Sports must help Yohanna choose between development pathway, immediate club ambition, financial package and long-term sporting fit. Brighton may offer the clearest development route. Chelsea may offer elite infrastructure and global status. Newcastle may currently offer the strongest proposal to AIK.
The best agency decision is not automatically the biggest bid. It is the club that gives Yohanna the best chance to keep playing, keep improving and build value after leaving Sweden.
AIK can drive the final price
AIK are in a strong position. Yohanna’s contract runs until 2029, multiple Premier League clubs are involved, and Leipzig’s exit because of cost shows that the price has already climbed beyond normal youth-market levels.
That gives AIK control over the club-to-club negotiation. Brighton have moved early and secured the player’s verbal agreement, but they still need to convince AIK before the race is over.
For FootballAgencies readers, Yohanna is a perfect example of the modern scouting market: Nigerian academy talent, Swedish development, Premier League competition, and an agency now responsible for guiding a teenager through a high-pressure transfer decision.
The verbal agreement with Brighton is real. The race, because of AIK and rival offers, is still alive.
